In a tweet from Bethesda’s Pete Hines, he’s impressed by the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller.
“I’ve gotten to try the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on this thing and was very impressed,” says Hines. “I think games are gonna do some really cool things with them.”

Yesterday afternoon, PlayStation announced the DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5. As Hines mentions, the controller features haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, alongside a built-in microphone, a USB-C port, a built-in rechargeable battery, and a create button which replaces the DualShock 4’s Share button. For those that don’t know, haptic feedback replaces the DualShock 4’s rumble feature by providing more sensations. As for the adaptive triggers, it adds more sensations and tensions such as drawing a bow and arrow.
“DualSense marks a radical departure from our previous controller offerings and captures just how strongly we feel about making a generational leap with PS5,” says Jim Ryan, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “The new controller, along with the many innovative features in PS5, will be transformative for games – continuing our mission at PlayStation to push the boundaries of play, now and in the future. To the PlayStation community, I truly want to thank you for sharing this exciting journey with us as we head toward PS5’s launch in Holiday 2020. We look forward to sharing more information about PS5, including the console design, in the coming months.”
The reveal of the DualSense controller comes a few weeks after PlayStation 5 revealed the PS5’s technical specs. As the months roll on, we’re getting more info on the PlayStation 5 and what it’ll offer. Now we need to see what the system looks like and what games we can look forward to.
